Does it work on any URL?
Yes, any public website URL. The scan only reads what's publicly served — it doesn't require access to your server.
What is the difference between a 301 and a 302 redirect?
A 301 is permanent and tells search engines to move ranking signals to the new URL. A 302 is temporary and keeps the original URL indexed. Use 301 for moved pages and domain changes.
How many redirects in a chain is too many?
Aim for one hop. Each extra hop adds latency, and long chains can stop crawlers from following them. Point old URLs straight at the final destination.
